Mahesh has been a panel member with the Office of The Children’s Lawyer for over 20 years completing section 112 assessments and has been completing section 30 assessments for over 15 years. He has completed over 300 section 112 and section 30 assessments.
- Mahesh has been deemed an expert witness by the Courts in Ontario on child development, parent-child relations and custody and access recommendations. He has also been deemed an expert in numerous child welfare trials. The opinions and testimony that Mahesh has provided has helped resolve numerous child custody parenting matters and child welfare proceedings.
Child Welfare

Mahesh has spent over 10 years in executive leadership positions in child welfare, including holding the position of COO of the Toronto Children’s Aid Society. The largest Board governed child welfare organization in Canada. He worked hard to move the child welfare service model from one of protection to one of prevention, ensuring children remain at home and in their communities and families are supported and given assistance and resources to raise their children in healthy environments rather than investigated for dealing with difficult issues such as poverty, domestic violence, and mental health struggles.
- Mahesh understands well what child welfare operations are intended to achieve and he can help families, legal professionals and other systems interacting with child welfare navigate complex situations so that positive outcomes for children and families are achieved by everyone involved.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Mahesh envisioned designed and built the first Equity Department at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto which grew to over 10 staff with a dedicated anti-black racism team. The anti-black racism work he was involved in was incorporated into Ontario’s Provincial Anti-Racism strategy. He has delivered numerous trainings on the topic and has spoken at international conferences on issues related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Mahesh has worked as the principal consultant working with Jewish Family and Child Services of Toronto, leading their Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion implementation strategy. He also helped to developed and implemented anti-oppression service frameworks at both the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto and Peel Children’s Aid.
